From its beginning, Willer Timber Ridge Farm established a program with a plan, "customer driven, balanced carcass cattle". Never focusing on single trait matings, our program is directed at females that produce bulls that work for cattlemen. We set out to have a foundation of proven genetics.
Our mission: to help cattlemen by providing complete, "balanced" cattle in a changing industry environment.
Our goals for "customer driven, balanced carcass cattle"
fertility, milk, correct structure, durability and longevity, performance, and carcass.
Our target: moderate-framed, efficient cattle with above average milk, growth, and carcass.
Our environment: as tough as any in the country, hot and humid summers followed by bone-chilling cold in the winters (our temperature ranges from 20 to 100+)…our Indiana cattle work from Georgia to Montana and from Texas to New York!
To set the foundation in place, we looked to proven programs with proven females. We wanted stacked pedigrees on 10-year old cows that were Pathfinders, and still producing. To that strong base, weve added both proven and next generation genetics by AI. We continue to utilize the latest technology through the use of embryo transfers to accelerate the herd progress; AHIR performance records to measure quality advances; and ultrasound to verify carcass development. In addition, we are committed to providing a premium health program to assure our customers of trouble-free cattle. Cattle they can have confidence in adding to their herd.
Our bulls continue to be tested at IBEP (IN) and Midland Bull Test (MT). We have had top-tier bulls at each of these tests, both for growth and carcass quality. Our performance tested bulls and their "Bull-maker-Moms" have been purchased by demanding cattlemen in 18 states. Our satisfied customers include both commercial and seedstock producers as well as university beef programs.
Our program is firmly established; we continue to advance proven genetics; and the customers purchases and satisfaction is the only measure of our success.
